Bear Lake is a 110-square-kilometer lake located halfway through Utah and half in Idaho. It is known for its ‘Caribbean blue’ color, which seems to be out of place in our mountains. Many people use the lake for recreational purposes such as boating and swimming.

The simple answer is somewhere that is not the established beach. Unfortunately, both Utah and Idaho do not allow dogs to use established beaches unless clearly marked. One of the great things about Bear Lake is the badges – each sign is marked with an appropriate sign that tells the dog. You can find this sign near each beach entrance and designated entertainment venue. Your best bet is on the Utah side of the lake, especially on the east side along North Cisco Road. Look out for parking lots where you can walk down to the water. You may have some luck along Highway 30 as you drive toward Laketown, but these areas are often crowded. .
There are some dog restaurant options near Bear Lake if you need to eat with your puppy. Garden City, Utah has several restaurants with outdoor seating that will allow dogs.

Almost all of Bear Lake State Park 150+ campsites are dog friendly. Across the southern half of the lake you will find many options including tents, primary camps and RV areas. Although they have fewer options than their peers of the same name in the South, Bear Lake State Park in Idaho also allows dogs in their campsites. It is likely that if you are at Bear Lake for the weekend you may want to include some time on the water. Epic Recreation rents a variety of speedboats and boats between 4, 6 and 8 hours. Dogs are allowed on their rental boats, but they must be kept on the floor of the ski – there are no dogs on the seats of the boat!
